Jianjun Meng received his Phd degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2013. He spent three years at the University of Minnesota as a postdoctoral researcher since 2014 and worked as a researcher at University of minnesota since 2017. His research interests focus on Brain-Computer Interface (BCI), EEG signal processing, Pattern recognition, Neuro-rehabilitation and Neuromodulation.
 
Abstract
This talk reviews several recent studies did in the Biomedical functional imaging and Neuroengineering Laboratory at the University of minnesota. It covers the study that whether EEG based Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) has high enough accuracy and efficiency to continuously control a robotic arm to complete complex tasks and the hypothesis was tested by motor imagery based BCI in a group of 13 subjects with longitudinal sessions.This talk also presents whether caffeine, the world’s most popular stimulant, has any effect on the performance of online BCI control and likely perturb resting state EEG. Lastly, the research of whether the number of used electrodes and corresponding algorithms affect the performance of online BCI is covered. The future direction of researches in the lab will be touched upon slightly at the end.
